Deja Vu

I spared you the details during my painful Aleita ripping last week because quite frankly, frustration had rendered me speechless at the time. With no inspiration for a topic today though, I decided to finally get around to sharing.

There I was, feeling pretty darn pleased with myself. Sure, I had made a pattern mistake and missed one vertical line of knit stitches, but I was actually starting to like the idea of adding a row of decorative buttons for originality and visual balance.

And then I went and tempted knitting fate. That's right - I blogged it. And why stop there - oh no, I just had to take it one step further and actually update Ravelry.
So is it any surprise that the very next day, it all went pear shaped.

Since I had reached the point of binding off the arm holes and seperating the front and back panels, I had the brilliant idea of carefully trying the vest on just to see how the fit was coming along (because really, who wants to spend months knitting something that doesn't fit).

Please don't bother asking me how this happened, but at least 25 stitches slipped off the stitch holder (which mysteriously stayed closed, so really, I am totally flummoxed on this one) and got pulled out for what looked like about 6 rows down (again, no idea how that happens in just one section). Could I have somehow tried to save them? Maybe, but I detest picking up dropped stitches and I was thrown for such a loop (get it - loop) that I figured I might as well go all in and rip back to the start of the overlap.

So here we are a week later and with all that practice, the patterned section is actually looking way better with the second kick at the can.
But on the other hand, I just went and blogged about it again, so who knows what the rest of the day will bring.

In the meantime, enjoy an updated photo and some eye candy that appeared in my mail this week. I guess since buying these lovlies from Knit Picks a while back, I can now look forward to regular temptations and more visions of loveliness. My eye is always drawn to a fresh shade of green, but I also adore that turquoise swatched yarn beside it. Nothing inspires me to finish a project like...yarn for more projects.

Hey Elizabeth, thank you so much for the tip on the Amy Butler book - I had no idea where this lounge pant pattern came from, did not even think of her book! So, read your post and oh man, so sorry to hear about the little slippery stitches problem - very glad to hear that you are back on track.

Well, the knitting looks lovely if that's any consolation! And, I'd better not buy anything from Knitpicks. I don't need that kind of temptation at my door!
